  • Welcome to Yardleys School

Hello and welcome to the transition section of the Yardleys School website.

The intention of this section of our website is to provide our new Year 7 students, as well as their parents and carers, with the information that they need to help with a smooth transition to Yardleys School.

The documents within this section will give you information about school uniform, the timings of the school day, key dates during the 2025-2026 academic year and our full Induction Booklet.

    Attendance at Yardleys School

We are proud of the excellent attendance of our students and the number of attendance awards that we have secured over the past few years.  We expect all students to be in school, on time, every day and not less than 97% of the time.  This is because, we know that students who have excellent attendance:

    ·         Perform better in their examinations and assessments.

    ·         Forge and sustain stronger friendships with their peers.

    ·         Have greater opportunities Post-16 (at college, sixth form, in apprenticeships etc.).

We will not authorise absence for:

    ·         Minor ailments such as a cold or headache

    ·         Getting up late

    ·         Family birthdays or outings

    ·         To visit relatives

    ·         To look after the house or other family members

    Homework at Yardleys School

Your child will be set homework every week in each of the subjects that they study; this is because we know that homework is vital in embedding the work that students have completed in lessons.  Homework is set every Tuesday and must be completed by the following Monday; all homework in Year 7 is on-line and can be accessed via the Yardleys School website within the ‘Homework Hub’ section.

    Lunchtime

At Yardleys School, we have two eating areas, the Canteen and the Cooper Hall; all students are welcome to use whichever area they would like to.  We are a cashless school; students can only purchase food and drinks from the Canteen and Cooper Hall by using their card which parents can add money to using ParentPay – www.parentpay.com .  Lunchtime runs between 1.10 – 2.50 each day.

As stated at Induction Evening, I want to work in partnership with parents / carers to secure the best outcomes for our students.  Should you need support, advice or help resolving issues that your child is facing, please do get in touch – I want to help.
