  • Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance at Yardleys School


    Careers and employability skills are an important part to develop when preparing for a life outside Yardleys School. It is therefore very important that the Yardleys CEIAG programme gives all pupils the skills, knowledge and understanding required to manage their own lifelong learning and career development.  

    The objectives of CEIAG program are in line with the Gatsby Eight Benchmarks for Careers Excellence and are as follows:

    1. To plan and provide a stable careers programme for our learners
    2. To expose students to relevant labour market information (LMI)
    3. To address the needs of all students
    4. To link curriculum learning to careers
    5. To provide opportunities for student to encounter employers and employees
    6. To support students to obtain work experience placements at year 10
    7. To provide opportunities for students to encounter further and higher education
    8. To provide personal guidance to students on careers education

    Solihull Sixth Form College

    There are just two more on line open events taking place before the deadline for applications.  The Principal, Martin Sullivan will be delivering presentations and answering questions on 3 and 7 March.

    If you have already applied

    Solihull Sixth Form College has received a lot of applications for September 2022 which it is currently working through.  Students who look likely to meet entry requirements will be invited for an interview and these will be taking place in the evening on campus on the following dates-

    Wednesday 2 February, Thursday 3 March, Tuesday 22 March, Wednesday 4 May, Tuesday 10 May and Thursday 9 June 2022.

    Interview Evenings are strictly by invitation only, so students need to keep checking their email to see when they will be invited for interview.  If you end up being interviewed later than your friends, don’t worry you are not being disadvantaged.

    If you have not yet applied, remember the deadline for applications is 31st March.  It is a good idea to apply before this date.

     The closing date for applications to Joseph Chamberlain College is 31st March 2022.  Applications received after this date will not be processed.

    Cadbury Sixth Form College

    Next ‘Talk and Tour’ Events

    Offering a good range of both A ‘levels and BTEC Diplomas and T-Levels in Digital Design Development and Education and Childcare.  All 16-18 years olds are offered free bus travel to and from the college.

    These events will provide opportunities for students to get involved in a ‘hands on’ approach to choosing the right course for them by taking part in the ‘Try It’ series of events that will be available at the School Leaver events.

    This is a new provider in Birmingham offering Level 3 School Leavers courses in:

    Diploma in Business, Enterprise and Entrepreneurship

    Diploma in Infrastructure

    These qualifications provide great opportunities to get involved in careers in rail, engineering and management.

     

     

     

    Birmingham Metropolitan College

    Specialist teachers will be available to answer questions about the extensive range of course available at the college including apprenticeships and the Career College.

    Thursday 10th March

    Offer a wide range of vocational qualifications which include work experience with a local employer.  The college has recently opened some new facilities that will enable them to offer courses in both Construction and Engineering from September 2022.

    From September 2022, a wide range of T-level courses will be available.
